for the large increase in the estimated expenditure of this

SANITARY BOARD. The increase in the estimated cost of

this department is owing to the fact that the lowest tender

received for the important work of scavenging the streets

of the city is greater by $12,000 than the former estimate.

This increase arises partly from the area of the city having

become larger,

and partly from the rise in the wages of coolies

MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES The chief increase under this
